Starting Your Own Blog
Have you ever thought about creating your own blog? Maybe you wanted to create a website that has a blog about cooking? Or maybe your site has a blog about your past hiking trips? Creating content for blogs can be difficult, however, if you write about something that you love, you will most likely have plenty to write and share.
So let’s talk about what makes a good blog. A good blog not only uses a title that grabs the readers attention, but also uses tags and categories. By creating tags and categories, readers can find more information about what they are looking for in a quick and easy manner.
In all internet writing, creating short paragraphs is key. By creating short paragraphs, the viewer is able to focus on a little information at a time. Because a user may be viewing your blog on a small screen, making sure your writing is in chunks helps to reduce the cognitive load. The user can focus on one topic of information at a time. This leads me to another point. Make sure your paragraphs are organized in a logical manner.
Let’s look at a great blog example that provides information about designing. If you go to the website Creative Blog, you will see numerous different headers in their navigation. Because Creative Blog writes about many different areas of design, the navigation bar allows you to choose your area of interest. In my case, I usually look at the website category or the graphic design category. If you click on one of the categories, you will see numerous different blog posts. You will also notice that most of the blog posts are recent. Keeping your blog updated is another key to gaining followers and keeping your audience’s attention.
Once you have clicked on a certain blog post, notice the structure that is used. First you will see a title. After that you will see a header. And following that you will see the article. It is important to note the many links to other pages found in the article. This helps search engines to index your blog. Lastly, I would like to mention the tags at the bottom of the article. The tags allow users to check out similar posts.
Now that you know the basics of blogging, think about starting your own!0
